Rage against the Murdoch

A post on slashdot pointed me to this article in the UK newspaper, The Independent, that details the beginnings of a revolt by users of MySpace against media mogul/MySpace owner Rupert Murdoch. All I can say is, it’s about time. I knew that as a musician, I should probably jump on the MySpace bandwagon, but I just couldn’t get over the fact that Murdoch’s News Corporation owned it. I admit, my life is not Murdoch-free. But I have to activate a mental block every time I switch over to his station to catch episodes of Family Guy and Arrested Development—otherwise I would feel a deep shame, especially after having seen Outfoxed. Watching a couple of programs on one of Murdoch’s networks is as complicit as I ever want to be in his bid to take over the world. (Of course, Murdoch owns so much media real estate, I am sure there are many ways in which I unwittingly support him.) I’ve been looking into services similar to MySpace, and one in particular has caught my eye: namely TagWorld. I might have given iMeem a go, too, but they offer no Mac support, so phooey on them.
