What is that strange orange orb in the sky?

Finally, the sun shines again! I almost can’t believe my eyes. We’ve had biblical rain the last month, resulting in record flooding, and the most overall rainfall ever in November—and the month isn’t even over yet. Our house was spared from flooding (phew!), but I began to think we would end up living on oceanfront property. But now, the sun is out, and the ground has gone from the consistency of mud soup to damp sponge. I can finally pick up the dog poop.

And yes, I AM aware that I haven’t mentioned that it’s been months since I last wrote. I just didn’t feel like it, okay? (I have turned comments off, ‘cause sometime during my absence the spambots descended and wreaked havoc.)

I have been unemployed since my MGS web writing contract ended, with the exception of a two-week stint as a contract technical editor at a Microsoft vendor, but it looks like I will be working again soon. Only this time, no agency—I’ll be starting a new job as an independent contractor on the 27th, writing marketing/PR materials for a company that owns many well-known brands in the pro audio and musical instrument biz. Being a gear junky, I won’t have to fake any of my enthusiasm for the products—woo hoo! And it’ll be nice to be working with other musicians and gear junkies. As an added bonus, I get to work part of my 30-hours/week at home. Sweet!
