A Wii bit of fun

It looks like Colbert cheated his way to dominance over the Decemberists in the guitar duel. I should have guessed! Read all about it here.

In other news, hubby got me a Wii for Christmas. It’s good fun — and more interactive than I anticipated. I played Wii Sports for several hours Christmas day, and the next morning my arms, shoulders, and lower back were sore. I got a little carried away, but it was invigorating. I never felt that way after playing the Xbox 360 — a few solid hours of 360 gaming usually resulted in severe hand cramps and mild disorientation. (That’s not to say I don’t enjoy a good shooter every now and again, though.)

I really enjoy the experience of being able to use my whole body in a video game…. Not that you have to use your whole body, mind you, but in some of the activities, it definitely helps. And I’m amazed at just how accurate the remote is. Of the Wii Sports activities, Boxing is the most physically intense, but what I’m really getting into are the activities that require more strategy than stamina, namely Golf and Bowling. I should be embarrassed to admit this, but I’m a pretty damn good Wii bowler. Must be that class I took in college…. Don’t laugh, I really needed the PE credit!

Dave got the Wii — as well as an extra controller — before the controller recall, so we’ve been extra careful not to let the them go flying out of our hands. I can see now how people might get carried away, though. I’d say we’ll eventually get around to exchanging our controllers, but first we’ll have to stop playing long enough to fill out the online form. Okay, gotta go. It’s my turn to bowl….
